Intervention Orders

Intervention orders protect people from the violent behaviour of others.

Violent behaviour does not just mean physical abuse. It also covers financial abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse or any other threatening behaviour.

In Victoria, the two categories of intervention order are personal safety intervention orders (PSIO) and family violence intervention orders (FVIO). Intervention orders are administered by the Magistrates’ Court.
